Entry #10 Bye, Bye Thanksgiving! Hello Christmas!
Bye, Bye Thanksgiving! Hello Christmas!
Baking: A Holiday Tradition
Now that Thanksgiving is over with, Christmas is here! I don’t know about you, but I’ve already started thinking about what makes this season so special! For me, one of the highlights has always been baking. Every year, my dad and I have a tradition of spending time in the kitchen making sweet treats and other baked goods. Who doesn’t love the smell of cookies or freshly baked bread around the holidays?!
Introverts, Welcome!
Now, I’ll admit, I’m an introvert. Big social gatherings aren’t really my thing, and that might sound a little weird to some. But that’s the beauty of baking—it’s a way to connect with people you care about without the pressure of being in a crowd. It’s quiet, creative, and honestly, a lot of fun. I’ve also realized that I’m more of a giver than a receiver. It’s just how I am—and baking gives me the perfect way to share something meaningful with the people I care about. Why From Scratch Matters
I prefer making things from scratch rather than using pre-mixed boxes. There’s just something satisfying about combining natural ingredients and knowing exactly what’s going into your food. No artificial flavorings, no dyes, just wholesome, homemade goodness. Plus, baking from scratch can be healthier, and it gives you the freedom to adapt recipes for allergies or dietary needs. For example, my dad has a coconut allergy, so anything that involves coconut, coconut oil, palm oil, shredded coconut—has to be avoided. Some of my friends and relatives also have peanut allergies, so baking gives us a way to make treats that everyone can safely enjoy. So of course, I really encourage y’all to give homemade goodies a try. You'll be surprised how they are! It's also cheaper than buying a store bought treats!More Than Just Food
Baking during the holidays isn’t just about the food—it’s about thoughtfulness, care, and making the season feel inclusive. It’s a reminder that small acts, like swapping ingredients or taking a little extra time, can make a big difference for the people around us. If you’ve ever thought about trying your hand at baking, the holidays are the perfect excuse. Even simple treats can be turned into memorable gifts that bring people together. So, what are you looking forward to this Christmas? Whether it’s baking, decorating, or just spending time with loved ones, I’d love to hear what makes this season special for you.
Get Creative in the Kitchen
Beyond just the kitchen, Christmas baking gives you a chance to be creative. Trying new flavors, shapes, or designs makes the whole process exciting. One year, my dad and I experimented with molasses cookies, and even though a few didn’t turn out perfectly, it was so fun to see our ideas come to life. And even little touches—like frosting designs or arranging treats in festive shapes—can make a gift feel extra special.Baking is for Everyone
Another thing I love is how baking can be inclusive for everyone. With allergies or dietary restrictions, it can sometimes feel like certain foods are off-limits during the holidays. But when you make treats yourself, you can adapt recipes so that no one feels left out. It’s not just thoughtful—it’s a way to make sure everyone can enjoy the season together, without worrying about what they can or can’t eat.
Patience, Presence, and Joy
Finally, baking teaches patience and presence. You can’t rush a good dough, and some things need careful attention. It’s a reminder that slowing down and putting effort into something—no matter how small—can bring real joy, both to you and to the people who get to share it. In a season that can feel hectic, taking the time to make something meaningful is a gift in itself. Improving on mental well-being and be able to enjoy the quality time with friends and family.
Making Memories is key!
So whether you’re baking, decorating, wrapping presents, or just enjoying quiet moments with family, I hope this season gives you a chance to create memories and connect in meaningful ways. Christmas isn’t just about the big moments—it’s also about the little things that make it feel warm, special, and truly yours.

ReplyDeleteMei your blog is fantastic! I wish I had looked at your blogs earlier because this is such a great one. Baking during the holidays IS more than just food; we create memories and enjoy the real time we have while baking. My fondest memories have been in family members' kitchens, especially my grandmother's. Great job!
